Yvonne Keenan: Glasgow foster carer jailed for abusing four children | UK News

British Weekly May 28, 2025 3 minutes read

A caregiver who abused four children – including the wrongly a girl who was dead – was imprisoned.

The 56 -year -old Yvonne Keenan put her victims of an abuse catalog under addresses in Glasgow Between 1994 and 2004.

The Crown Office and Proprator Fiscal Service (Copfs) said that a boy was forced to eat cat food as a punishment after touching “a button” in the kitchen.

The same boy was regularly locked up in his bedroom and stood in the corner of a room for hours and stood in a wall for hours.

A second child was physically abused by Keenan and was not allowed to sit on furniture in the house.

Copfs said Keenan punished the girl by cutting her hair and left her outside in the garden after locking the back door of the property.

A dish heard how the abuser would not feed the girl and a younger child, and regularly sent it to bed.

During an incident, the girl scratched a blanket and fed her to the younger child who cried with hunger because she didn't know what else to do.

Copfs said Keenan wrongly told the girl that her mother was dead.

A third child was threatened and physical violence was exposed if it did not come home from school within 15 minutes.

She screamed and shouted at the boy every day and made humiliating comments about a member of his family.

The child was also not properly fed and punished in front of the wall for punishment.

Keenan also abused a fourth child who had been in fear for several years.

The defendant was described by some of her victims as a “disciplinary” and as a “angry monster”, who are now all adults.

Keenan guilty of four charges for cruel and unnatural treatment last month.

She returned to Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, where she was sentenced to 32 months in prison.

Fraser Gibson, Provurator Fiscal for Glasgow and Strathkelvin, said: “Yvonne Keenan took advantage of her trust position to abuse endangered young people who are supposed to be safe in their care.

“Instead, she caused an unimaginable trauma due to her violent and cruel insult over a considerable number of years.

“It is thanks to the victims who report their experiences and provide evidence that this prosecution was made possible.”

“Terrible case”

The NSPCC asked everyone who had suffered a similar abuse to comment and seek support.

A spokesman for the children's charity organization said about Sky News: “These children were cared in Keenan's care in order to stay safe and healthy.

“Instead, she completely abused her trust and subjected her to almost unimaginable cruelty, abuse and neglect.

“In this terrible case, the victims have shown immense bravery when they have been expressed and contributed to the fact that Keenan finally lives up for their terrible crimes.

“It is now important that everyone who has suffered from their hands has access to the support they need to go forward with their lives.”
