According to the “Work Plan for the 11th Governor Cup Industrial Design Competition and Guangdong Design Week”, Guangdong University of Technology start up the 11th “Governor Cup” Industrial Design Competition (Overseas and Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan division) to promote the novel development of industrial design and to promote the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.

2. Range of participants
Enterprises, institutions, universities & colleges, individuals or teams are all allowed to participate in the competition, regardless of nationality and household registration.
3. Works Collection Categories
The Governor Cup Industrial Design Competition is divided into product design group, conceptual design group and industrial design group. In principle, all participating works must be original works that are completed after 1St July 2020 and with all their intellectual property rights reserved by the participants and strong industrialization potential. One piece of work can only be submitted once.
4. Participation Procedure
Participants are required to register and submit the application form on the official website https://gcup.gdut.edu.cn. The registration, declaration of works and submission of results are divided into three groups: product design group, concept design group and industrial design group. Please refer to the attached manual (Annex 1) for submission details.
Step 1: Log in to the website and register.
Log in to the Governor Cup official website. Register and confirm account no. and password.
Step 2: Fill in the application form.
Select the competition division, then select a competition group (product design group, conceptual design group or industrial design group) and special categories. After that, select the competition form (individual, team/enterprise, team/design organization, team/Joint) and upload a valid ID. Fill in the detailed information of the contact person, chief designer, and team members.
Step 3: sign up
participant no. will be obtained after finishing filling in the above information and competition registration files will be generated automatically. Please upload the registration files after signature and seal (for team participants). The registration information and files are changeable before the deadline. After the deadline, all the uploaded files and registration information will be unchangeable. In such a case, sign-up is completed.
5. Submission Documents
(1) Product Design Group
a. Product Design Contest Application Form of the 11th “Governor Cup” Industrial Design Competition (Individual entries must be signed and hand-stamped).
b. Joint Participation Statement for Product Design Contest of the 11th “Governor Cup” Industrial Design Competition (and Joint Participation Agreement). (for joint participants only)
c. The soft copy of the business license or other supporting documents with signature or stamp is required for team participants and the soft copy of identity certification documents with signature and handstamp is required for individual participants.
i.e. Design plan: Including product idea and concept description, product definition, photo of the product, brief design description and key structure or key detail description, social and economic benefits obtained after mass production or sales, etc. (Format requirements: 1-3 pictures in jpg format and 1 picture with a blank background in PNG format, size 420mm × 594mm, pixels 2480px × 3508px, resolution 150dpi, the maximum size of each image is 5MB).
e. Intellectual property materials (if any).
(2) Conceptual Design Group
a. Product Design Contest Application Form of the 11th “Governor Cup” Industrial Design Competition (Individual entries must be signed and hand-stamped).
b. Joint Participation Statement for Product Design Contest of the 11th “Governor Cup” Industrial Design Competition (and Joint Participation Agreement). (for joint participants only)

e. Intellectual property materials (if any).
(3) Industrial Design Group
a. Product Design Contest Application Form of the 11th “Governor Cup” Industrial Design Competition (Individual entries must be signed and hand-stamped).
b. Joint Participation Statement for Product Design Contest of the 11th “Governor Cup” Industrial Design Competition (and Joint Participation Agreement). (for joint participants only)

i.e. Project study report： Including design objectives, research method and research resource integration and team building, how to integrate industries with design, how to lead technical development and commercial mode innovation with design; how to promote enterprises, industries or regional economy to transform and upgrade and apply them in practice to obtain benefits; evaluation and commendation, etc. (In the form of A4 report combining figures and texts);
e. Intellectual property ownership materials (if any).
6 Schedule
The registration will be open until the end of july, 2022.
Please fill in the online registration form on the official website of the Governor Cup Industrial Design Competition（https://gcup.gdut.edu.cn）. A participant no. will be generated automatically. Please download and print, then stamp or sign. Take a photo or scan and upload it to the required location of the system.
7. Evaluation
(1) The preliminary works of this competition area shall be comprehensively scored and ranked according to the evaluation rules of the competition. 10% of works from the product design group and the conceptual design group will be recommended for the semi-final stage, while 10% of the works of the industrial design group will be recommended for the final stage. The shortlist will be published on the official website.
(2) Finalists of the semi-final should mail their works before the evaluation to the School of Art and Design, Guangdong University of Technology, No.729 Dong Feng East Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China. Please pay attention to the epidemic prevention during mailing works.
