The 2023-2024 China Fibers Fashion Trends Report release event with the theme of “Harmonious Coexistence” ended on March 28 at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai) China.

The event was co-hosted by the China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, Donghua University and the China Cotton Textile Industry Association, under the direction of the Department of Consumer Goods Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

This year it is sponsored by the Tongkun Group, a Chinese conglomerate specializing in the manufacture and distribution of polyester products.

Over 500 distinguished guests attended the celebration, including He Yaqiong, director of the Department of Consumer Goods Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Wang Tiankai, former chairman of the China National Textile and Apparel Council; Xu Kunyuan, former vice chairman; Chen Weikang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Duan Xiaoping, Vice Chairman; Yu Jianyong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Zhu Meifang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Chen Xinwei, President of China Chemical Fiber Industry Association; Zhu Beina, head of China Cotton Textile Industry Association; Dong Kuiyong, President; Shen Jiansong, vice president of Tongkun Group Co., Ltd.; Wang Huaping, researcher at the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Donghua University, as well as experts and leaders from national departments and various professional organizations of the China National Textile and Apparel Council.

This year the event showcased the launch of 30 new popular fiber varieties in four main chapters namely Fiber-Greenery, Fiber-Comfort, Fiber-Unbounded and Fiber-Innovative.

The wide variety of types includes bio-based chemical fibers, solution-dyed chemical fibers, antibacterial fibers, temperature-sensitive fibers and high-performance carbon fibers.

It offers comprehensive insight into the frontiers of fiber technology and application, providing downstream companies with trend guidance for future fabric choices.

It also illustrates the endless possibilities of fibers in fashionable lifestyles and promotes the integration of fibers with the environment and technology.

Under the motto “Harmonious Coexistence”, the event highlights the harmony between the world and the human body, while emphasizing the coexistence of nature and technology. Harmony and coexistence are crucial in the current era of accepting diversity and striving for common development. The chemical fiber industry in China strives to develop by seeking common ground while maintaining differences, providing solutions to development challenges, and bringing Chinese wisdom to realize aspirations for a better life worldwide.

In addition, the event presented special awards for the “Best Annual Cooperative Partner Award” to 24 companies in the Green Fiber and Scientific and Technological Innovation groups. These awards validated the close cooperation and collaborative innovation achievements of upstream and downstream companies, and jointly promoted the high-quality development of the textile industry.

Expanding on the fiber trend, 30 new yarn varieties were also unveiled on the occasion, focusing on green ecology, functional innovation, high-quality craftsmanship and visual fashion, emphasizing the importance of producing eco-friendly, functional and high-quality yarns that are high quality and stylish.

The youngest Chinese designer invited to present his work at New York Fashion Week, Zhang Turan has made his mark on the international fashion scene. He skillfully combines traditional Chinese crafts such as Su embroidery, Ping embroidery, Panjin silk and Yun brocade with his bold, elegant and individualistic lace designs, creating a contemporary interpretation of ancient embroidery. In order to convey the theme of “harmony and coexistence”, the event seamlessly integrates stage and floor. The traditional T-stage has been sunk into the ground, with a green grass fiber floor creating an immersive show. Computer lighting programming technology was used to create high-quality, international aesthetics that coexist with nature. In this way, the audience becomes part of the show, crossing time and space with the models and experiencing a resonance beyond the visual.

This year, G Gallery designed the “Tongkun Green Fiber Dress” for Kuntong Group, using black and orange fabrics as a base. The dress appeared at the fiber trend report release event, where it showed a deep connection and mutual empowerment between fashion design and green fibers.
