Iran gave the US a “major oil-related gift worth enormous amounts of money”
Iran made a “very significant” oil and gas-related gift to the United States on Tuesday, Donald Trump said.
“You gave us a gift, and the gift arrived today. It was a very large gift, worth an enormous amount of money, and I won't tell you what the gift was, but it was a very significant prize,” the president told reporters at the White House.
“They gave it to us and said they would give it. That means one thing to me: We're dealing with the right people.”
President Trump said the gift was “related to oil and gas” but gave no further details.
He added: “We killed their entire leadership and then they met to choose new leaders and we killed them all. And now we have a new group. Let's see how it turns out.”

Iran has agreed never to have nuclear weapons, Trump claims
Donald Trump said Iran had agreed never to have a nuclear weapon.
“They agreed that they would never have a nuclear weapon. They agreed to that,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
“We're in negotiations right now,” he said, adding: “The other side, I can tell you, would like to make a deal. Who wouldn't do that if they were you?”
“Their navy is gone, their air force is gone, their communications is gone.
“Can you name one thing that hasn't gone away? Or can you name one thing that's going well?”
“We move freely in Tehran. We can do whatever we want. As you know today, we had the privilege of shooting down a very large power plant … and we held back because of the fact that we are negotiating.”

Trump: “Iran really wants to make a deal”
Donald Trump said Iranian officials “want so badly to get a deal done” and called the U.S. operation in Iran a “tremendous success.”
Speaking about Iran at the White House, the US president said: “They no longer have a navy, they no longer have an air force, they no longer have anti-aircraft equipment, no more radar, no more leaders.”
“The leaders are all gone, nobody knows who to talk to. But we're actually talking to the right people and they're desperate to make a deal. They have no idea how bad they want to make a deal and we'll see what happens.”

Iran vows to fight for a “complete victory” after rejecting Trump’s claims about peace talks
The Independent's Maira Butt reports:
A spokesman for Iran's top military command said Tuesday that its forces would not stop “until complete victory,” pouring cold water on Trump's statements about a “five-day ceasefire.”
However, Iranian officials acknowledged that the US had been in touch through mediators as pressure mounts to find a solution after weeks of unrest in the Middle East.
“We have received points from the US through intermediaries and they are being reviewed,” a senior military official told CBS.
Pakistan has offered to mediate in the negotiations and its Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote up
It remains unclear who diplomats would be negotiating with after several senior Iranian officials were killed in recent days, including security chief Ali Larijani and newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who have not been seen for weeks.
